Ace of Swords - New thought

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” ― Albert Einstein

The Ace of Swords represents the potential, or seed form, of the Element of Air. The essence of this card is not easy to capture in an image and the card you see here is my second attempt. The overlay is an image of the Archangel Michael, holding the scales of judgment.

In the end, it felt right to focus on the handle of the sword because we will get absolutely nowhere in life unless we learn to manage our thoughts. Ways of handling thoughts that allow for new thought to come in include (but is not limited to): meditation, contemplation, dialogue (in particular listening), the creative process, logical analysis, becoming the observer, harnessing new thoughts and concepts which surface in dreams and daydreams...

All these ways of handling thoughts is what make a person intelligent and capable of shaping his or her own destiny. With only logical analysis (which is what IQ tests measure) in our tool box of thought management, we are little more than computers and at the risk of recycling old thoughts and thought patterns with little progress in sight.
